The roof was gone and the two-bedroom white vinyl siding house had been shifted off its foundation by the raging winds. Michael Hones, who lived at the residence at 160 Vick Road, described the twister as horrible that struck March 2 around 11 p.m. The short road is off the Browning Highway.
His mother, Venice Hones, 91, who owns the house, now lives in Illinois. Michael’s grandfather actually built the house.
A shed was also blown away.
He and a friend survived the ordeal by huddling in the middle of the house.
“It sounded like a freight train,” said Michael. “In 40 seconds it had come and gone.”
