MHS crowns Lauren Mansfield as homecoming queen

The McKenzie High School Rebels celebrated football homecoming Friday night, and members of this year’s homecoming court were recognized during pre-game ceremonies before the big win over Gibson County.

Senior Lauren Mansfield was crowned as homecoming queen by senior football players Kadan Allen, son of April Frensley and Stanley Allen: Ryan Christian, son of Wayne and Lauren Christian; and Jordan Woods, son of Christy Woods.

The 17-year-old daughter of Scott Mansfield and Elizabeth Mansfield, Lauren is a member of the Beta Club, DECA, FCA, Student Council, and First Baptist Church Youth Group. She is also completing the Distinguished Scholar program. Lauren plans to attend a four-year university to pursue a career in the medical field.

Escorting Lauren was senior Brandon Boaz, son of Chris and Lorra Boaz.

Other members of the homecoming court included:

•Senior Maggie Glass, daughter of Paul and Jennifer Glass. She is a member of the Beta Club, M-Club, FCA, Young Life, and the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Maggie is a four-year member of the golf team and is a four-time district medalist, a four-time region medalist, a two-time Jackson Sun West TN Female Golfer of the Year, 2019 All-State Selection Team member, and Jackson Sun All-Decade Golf Team member. Recently, she competed in the 2020 Girls Golf State Tournament, where she finished 8th in the state and helped her team finish 4th.  Maggie plans to attend Union University to further her education and to play golf. She was escorted by senior Tanner Waugh, son of Joey and Holly Waugh and Steve and Micki Cunningham.

•Senior Kennedy Green, daughter of Torey Green and Michael and Kendra Earnhardt.  She is a member of the Beta Club, DECA, Student Council, FTA, president of the senior class, and member of Long Heights Baptist Church Youth Group. Kennedy is also completing the Distinguished Scholar Program, and she plans to attend a four-year university and pursue a degree in chemistry. She was escorted by senior Chris Barnett, son of Joseph and Elizabeth Ruprich.

•Senior Savanah Hill, daughter of Blake and Lexy Hill and Mike and Summer Champion. She is a member of the BETA Club, FCA, FTA, Library Club, Spanish Club, M-Club, and Young Life. Savanah is also a two-year member of the soccer team. She is a member of Overflow Church. Savanah plans to attend University of Memphis and major in Biology and minor in Business and become a dentist. She was escorted by senior Will Latimer, son of Chuck and Jan Latimer.

•Junior Anna Grace Spivey, daughter of Kelly and Mary Spivey. She is a member of the Beta Club, M-Club, FCA, FTA, FBLA, HOSA, and the First Baptist Church Youth Group. Anna Grace is also a three-year member of the Lady Rebel soccer team and cheer squad, and has received the awesome attitude award and top main base award as a cheerleader. She is also completing the Distinguished Scholar program. Anna Grace plans to attend a four-year university to pursue a career in nursing. She was escorted by senior Logan Lyles, son of Kevin and Lisa Lyles and Dustie and Tammy Graves.
