Memorial Day ceremonies cancelled in Huntingdon, McKenzie

Neither Huntingdon or McKenzie will have their usual Memorial Day ceremonies due to the current
circumstances and in following the guidelines for the coronavirus.
“However, we do not want to let this occasion pass without recognizing how much this day means to us,” said
Huntingdon Administrative Assistant Katie Dill. “Our community should always honor and give thanks for all
Veterans who have sacrificed their lives each and everyday to protect America and our freedom. Although we may
not be able to have a gathering of friends and family, please remember those who faithfully served and honor those
who remain and those still serving.”
McKenzie Town Recorder Jennifer Waldrup said it is with regret that the City of McKenzie will not be holding
their customary Memorial Day program and ceremony this year due to the restrictions on gatherings.
“I hope that even though we are not able to come together as a group, that
we can set aside time to reflect the true meaning of the day,” she said. “Let us be mindful of the words of Franklin
D. Roosevelt: “’Those who have long enjoyed such privileges as we enjoy forget in time that men have died to win
them.’”
“Let us never forget them,” said Waldrup.
