McKenzie’s Boo Bash draws hundreds downtown

McKENZIE BOO BASH – The annual Boo Bash event was on a two-year hold during the COVID pandemic. On Thursday in downtown McKenzie, the event returned in full force, bringing hundreds of families to the court square. The event hosts, City of McKenzie and Bethel University, offered plenty of food and treats as trick-treaters put on their costumes and enjoyed a trunk-or-treat, train rides, a costume contest and dunking booth.
TINY WINNERS – Three winners were given prizes in the Boo Bash costume contest’s Tiny Terrors (0-2-year-olds) category during the annual event held Thursday night in downtown McKenzie. Winners are (from left) third-place Trace Townes, dressed as Buzz Lightyear, son of Talor and Karle Townes; second-place Penepole Peachey, dressed as a lion, daughter of Melodie Peachey; and first-place Georgia Gibson, dressed as a cow, daughter of Taylor and Rumor Gibson.
SMALL SPOOKS – Three winners were given prizes in the Boo Bash costume contest’s Small Spooks (3-5-year-olds) category during the annual event held Thursday night in downtown McKenzie. Winners are (from left) first-place Jameson Price, dressed as Chucky, son of Maysen Price; third-place Kane Fisher, dressed as a police officer, son of Samantha Garrett; and second-place Landry Sampson, dressed as a s’more, daughter of Hundley Sampson.
MIDDLE MONSTERS – Three winners were given prizes in the Boo Bash costume contest’s Middle Monsters (6-9-year-olds) category during the annual event held Thursday night in downtown McKenzie. Winners are (from left) second-place Jace Halstead, dressed in a vintage handmade pumpkin contest, son of Colton and Jerin Halstead; first-place Cashleigh Halstead, dressed in a vintage handmade cat costume, daughter of Colton and Jerin Halstead; and third-place Malcolm Evans, dressed as Transformer Optimus Prime, son of Megan Evans.
OLDER OGRES – Three winners were given prizes in the Boo Bash costume contest’s Older Ogres (10-14-year-olds) category during the annual event held Thursday night in downtown McKenzie. Winners are (from left) third-place Anna Summers, dressed as Laura Ingells Wilder with her dog Jack, daughter of Joell and Jamie Summers; second-place Callie Halstead, dressed in a handmade vintage costume, daughter of Colton and Jerin Halstead; and first-place Jessamyn Romines, dressed as Sadako from “The Ring,” daughter of Jodrea Romines.
CITY WORKER HOT DOGS – City of McKenzie employees got into the Halloween spirit Thursday night for the annual Boo Bash event held on the court square in downtown McKenzie. Grillmasters dressed up as hot dogs to hand out free hot dog dinners for the hundreds of people who showed up to the trunk-or-treat event.
FEARSOME FAMILIES – FIRST PLACE – The Jasper and Bright families dressed as dinosaurs and claimed the first-place prize in the costume contest held in conjunction with the annual Boo Bash hosted by the City of McKenzie and Bethel University in downtown McKenzie Thursday night.
