DUI, Driving Without License

Hugo Tox Pop, 29, Tumbling Creek Road, McKenzie, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence, Driving Without a License, Violation of Financial Responsibility, and Open Container (of alcohol) on February 6.

Officer Darren Davis stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Magnolia and University Drive for a headline violation. He noticed the driver was under the influence and administered field sobriety tests. An open container of an alcoholic beverage was located on the passenger side floorboard. Hugo Tox Pop was transported to Carroll County Jail.

Manufacturing Methamphetamine

Anthony D. Vermillion, 29, Oak Street, McKenzie was charged with Resisting Arrest, Evading Arrest and Manufacturing Methamphetamine after a traffic stop on February 9.

Officer Sean Beck reported that he initiated a traffic stop of a GMC Sierra around 2 a.m. for a seatbelt violation. The driver, Anthony Vermillion, exited the vehicle while Officer Beck was ordering him to return to his vehicle. Vermillion did not produce his identification, argued with Officer Beck and Cpl. Steven Scott, and then indicated he was phoning his attorney. He also indicated he was going to record the policemen, to which Beck said he could once he complied with their orders.

When officers indicated Vermillion was going to be arrested for Disorderly Conduct, he struggled with officers and attempted to flee as Officer Beck gave foot pursuit. Vermillion was physically taken to the ground and placed in handcuffs. When officers entered the vehicle to find Vermillion’s ID, they smelled marijuana, and located a plastic bag with 1.45 grams of suspected marijuana, a digital scale and plastic straw with meth on the inside. Two firearms were located under the backseat.

Underage DUI

Matthew C. Burke, 19, Blaylock Store Road, McKenzie, was charged with Underage Driving Under the Influence after a traffic strop on February 11 at 8:08 p.m.

Sergeant Cody Coleman stopped the pickup truck for a non-functioning headlight at the intersection of Forrest and University Drive.

The pickup truck had damage, which Burke said was from hitting a parking lot light.

A field sobriety test netted a charge of DUI. The vehicle was towed and Burke was arrested.

Driving on Suspended License

Felicia Elen Sarkozi, 31, Morris Ct., McKenzie was charged with Driving on a Suspended License, Violation of Financial Responsibility and Violation of the Headlight Law after a traffic stop on February 12.

Officer Bryan Batchelder stopped the vehicle on U.S. 79 for a non-functioning headlight. A check of the driver’s status revealed the suspended status. She was advised to report to Carroll County Jail for booking.

Criminal Trespass

Jessica L. Doster, 40, Euclid Avenue, McKenzie,  was charged with Criminal Trespass on February 6.

Officer Jeremiah Johnson was dispatched to Dollar General, where Doster was inside the store in violation of a court order banning her from the business. She was cited into Carroll County General Sessions Court.
