McKenzie man found dead after disturbance call

The death of a McKenzie man is being investigated by the McKenzie Police Department and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Reginald Cozart, 42, was found unresponsive on the floor of an apartment at 344 Elm Street after officers responded to a disturbance complaint there on Nov. 9 (Saturday) at 2:30 a.m., according to a report released by the McKenzie Police Department. When an ambulance arrived within minutes, it was confirmed that he was deceased.

Few other details were released in the vague report.

Multiple witnesses to the disturbance were interviewed by the T.B.I. and McKenzie Police Department.

According to one source, stab wounds may have contributed to his death and that a girlfriend was among those questioned.

“No suspects are being sought at this time,” the report said.

The deceased was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Nashville for an autopsy.

Cozart’s funeral is Saturday at 1 p.m.at Brummitt – McKenzie Funeral Home.
