McKenzie kicks off holiday with Mistletoe Christmas

The City of McKenzie will have a Mistletoe Christmas celebration Dec. 2-10 with a majority of the events to be held during the upcoming weekend. The Big Jingle Christmas Parade is Saturday at 4 p.m.

Dec. 2 Events

The events start on Friday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m. with “Build a Gingerbread House” competition at the Farmers Market at 2431 Cedar. Pre-sale tickets are $12 with limited space.

Also on Dec. 2, Pop Up Shops will be open downtown from 5-9 p.m. Just look for signs.

The opening ceremony will start with Little Rebel Singers at 5:30 p.m. Food trucks such as Chris’, Weiner Wagon and Snack Shack will be among those downtown from 6-9 p.m.

Horse drawn carriage rides will be available from 6-9 p.m. next to the Fire Dept. Santa’s reindeer will be from 6-9 p.m. in the park.

At 7 p.m. the Christmas with Renaissance Show will be held at Bethel’s Dicky Fine Arts building.

Dec. 3 Events

On Saturday, Dec. 3, from 8-11 a.m. Breakfast with Santa will be held at the First United Methodist Church. From 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. the Polar Express train will be running from the McKenzie Station at 5 Broadway with pre-sale tickets at $15. 

Pop Up Shops will be downtown 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. There will be a Mistletoe Market at Farmers Market from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with Santa’s reindeer in the park during this time as well.

Horse drawn carriage rides next to the Fire Dept. will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with food trucks downtown.

Christmas with Bethel Renaissance will be at Bethel’s Dicky Fine Arts building at 2 p.m.

The Big Jingle Christmas Parade begins at 4 p.m. and winds through downtown. Renaissance will perform at 7 p.m.

Dec. 4-10 Events

On Sunday, Dec. 4, Christmas Cookie Decorating with Laura Beth Fowler starts will be held from 2-3 p.m. and from 3:30-4:30 p.m. with buttercream icing for six cookies. Christmas with Bethel Renaissance will be at Bethel’s Dicky Fine Arts building at 2 p.m.

On Monday, Dec. 5, Luminary Church Walk from 5:30-7 p.m., and includes stops at the First Methodist Church, First Baptist Church, and First U.S.A. Presbyterian Church.

On Tuesday, Dec. 6, try some firehouse chili at City Hall from 5-7 p.m. with MBC’s Christmas movie at the Park Theatre at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, Dec. 10, join Catch Me Under the Mistletoe at 8:30 a.m. with a 5K and 1-mile Fun Run at Farmers Market at 2431 Cedar St.
