McKenzie closed the regular basketball season with a pair of victories.
The Lady Rebels and Rebels were winners at Big Sandy last Monday, then enjoyed a senior-night sweep of Milan Tuesday.
The Rebels finished their 11A worksheet 6-0 after an 84-53 victory against the host Red Devils.
The Lady Rebels topped the Big Sandy girls 78-41 to claim second place in District 11A. The Lady Rebels and Houston County split their contests during the regular season and the Lady Irish, by virtue of a coin flip, was awarded the top seed in the upcoming tournament.
Savannah Davis’s 23 points paced the Lady Rebels. Mikaela Reynolds added 19, Kylie Reynolds scored 10 and Briley Auvenshine tossed in eight. McKenzie jumped to a 38-5 lead in the first quarter and Big Sandy never recovered.
Kaylee Stockdale led Big Sandy with 12 points, Bailey Berry scored nine, Kaylan Jackson contributed seven while Ava Wade had six.
Tuesday night, the Lady Rebels rolled to a 64-30 victory over the visiting Milan Lady Bulldogs. Once again, McKenzie jumped to a big lead in the opening frame, 31-7, and was never threatened.
Savannah Davis and Mikaela Reynolds each had 19 points to lead the Lady Rebels. Kylie Reynolds scored 10.
No Milan players reached double figures. Ashley Williamson led the Lady Bulldogs with seven points. Reese Redmund and Kaidence Morton each scored six.
McKenzie edged Milan in a back-and-forth game. The Rebels took an early 11-9 lead, but Milan ralied to lead 23-20 at the break. The Bulldogs held a 36-30 lead after three. The Rebels outpaced Milan 16-5 in the fourth quarter to come away victorious.
Tyrone Brown led Milan with 12 points, D’Yonte Lampkins scored 12.
Tate Surber was tops for McKenzie with 13 points while Marquez Taylor added 11.
McKenzie finishes with a 15-5 record while Milan fell to 17-7.
