Maurice “Van” VanCleave

VANCLEAVE: Maurice “Van” VanCleave died peacefully, May 22, 2021, aged 94, surrounded by family, in St. Petersburg FL where he had lived since 2018.  He formerly lived in Sarasota FL 1985-2018; Lima OH 1975-1985; Elwood IN 1956-1975; Detroit MI 1948-1956; and Huntingdon TN where he was born and raised.  He served as a Seabee in the Navy on Okinawa during World War II.  He retired in 1985 as a division president after 37 years with Ex-Cell-O Corp. 

He was preceded in death by parents Clyde and Lela (Ingle) VanCleave; sisters Ruth Hampton, Dorothy Vancleave, and Elizabeth Parker.  He is survived by Ella Jane (Webb), his wife of 72 years; sister Patricia Kight; brother-in-law John Parker; sons Dale, Ted, and Gary; daughters-in-law Christine and Karen; grandsons Mark and Luke; nephews Jerry Hampton, Joe Hampton, and John Clark Kight; and niece, Judy Beal. 

Memorial donations may be sent to Genealogy Department, Carroll County Library, 625 High St, Suite 102, Huntingdon TN 38344  A memorial service will be planned at a future time.  Condolences may be posted at davidcgross.com or mailed to Ted VanCleave, 410 12th Ave NE, Apt 5, St Petersburg FL 33701.  He was much loved and will be greatly missed.
