Majoria J. Abbott

Majoria “Jo” Jane Melton Abbott, 89, of Huntingdon, passed away Saturday, Sept.12, at her home. Private family graveside funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept.15, 2020 at 1 a.m., at Long Rock Cemetery with Bud George officiating.

Mrs. Abbott was born June 13, 1931, in Troy, to the late Lee M. Smith and Nannie Estelle Springer Smith.  She was a homemaker and bookkeeper for the family construction and well drilling businesses and a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.  Her favorite hobby was to crochet prayer shawls for both Mt. Zion and Huntingdon First United Methodist Churches.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Oscar Melton, second husband, Ondell Abbott, a daughter, Patricia J. Melton, two brothers, and one sister.

She is survived three daughters, Fredia (Frankie) Harris, and Cathy Garner, both of Huntingdon, and LeAnn (Bud) George, of Murfreesboro; three sisters, and one brother, nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Mt. Zion United Methodist Food Pantry, c/o Robbie Carlton, 815 Westport Road, Huntingdon, TN  38344

Pallbearers who served are Phillip Garner, Blake George, Casey Hutcherson, Will Tegethoff, Brandon Turner, and Hunter Turner.
