Legislative Body to hear updates, pass reappointments 

The 21 members of the County Legislative Body will consider four resolutions, elect notaries, approve monthly reports besides hearing updates on the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 and discuss the possibility of the establishment of a perpetual trust fund for the purpose of assisting the medically indigent within the county at their upcoming meeting.

They will meet at 7 p.m. at the Office Complex Monday night.

Counties in Tennessee having a population of not less than 28,285 and no more than 28,385 are eligible to create a trust fund to be managed and governed by a board of trustees consisting of nine citizens of the county. Carroll is among the eligible counties.

The County Executive (Mayor) of the county shall recommend to the County LegislativeBody for its ratification of three trustees, and three nominees for the office of trustee shall be recommended to the County Legislative Body by the not-for-profit hospitals and health care facilities operating within such county for ratification by the Legislative Body, and these six (six) shall submit another slate of three trustees to the Legislative Body for ratification and approval.

Two reappointments and one new appointment will be madeto Carroll County Indigent Care Board.

Meredith Surber and John Mann were reappointed. Surber and Mann’s terms will end Sept.2025, Renee Ford is a new appointee and her term will likewise end Sept. 2025.

The Carroll County Highway Department were authorized to perform road work for other governmental entities in Carroll County after commissioners passed a resolution that allows it.The term of authorization is four years.
