Lavinia man found dead near his home

William Donald Cunningham, 82, was found dead on Nov. 4 in a wooded area near his home at 1655 Cunningham Road in Lavinia.

According to the report by Deputy Tony King, a family member called the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department and reported that he had found Mr. Cunningham’s body, and when deputies arrived, he took them to the scene by ATV.

A four-wheeler belonging to Mr. Cunningham was found on a trail approximately 150 yards from where his body was found. The four-wheeler was out of gas.

King noted that Mr. Cunningham lived alone and did not have a cell phone.

A relative who lives nearby told deputies that she last saw Mr. Cunningham at around noon on Nov. 2. She also said that he rode his four-wheeler on trails in that area almost every day.

The report states that no evidence pointing to foul play was found, and that Mr. Cunningham had a history of heart surgery.
