Lady Rebs top Clarksville, Montgomery Central 

McKenzie entered its game with Clarksville with only nine players dressed out.

Illness and injury had severely thinned the Lady Rebel ranks. As a result, Clarksville rolled to  60-42 lead late in the third quarter.

The Lady Rebs found a spark before the buzzer and trimmed the gap 60-47 heading into the final frame.

McKenzie outpaced Clarksville from that point on 34-13 to capture a 76-73 victory Thursday morning.

Mikaela Reynolds and Kyle Reynolds each had 28 points and combined for 9-9 from the free throw line in the final eight minutes. Mikaela had 14 fourth-quarter points.

Katie Chesser threw in 11 for the Lady Rebels.

Imari Berry had 28 to lead Clarksville. Brystal Calhoun added 15 and Malon Smith scored 14.

Friday, McKenzie followed up the thriller with a 68-21 win over Montgomery Central.

McKenzie sprinted to a 30-3 lead in the first period . By halftime, the Lady Rebels were up 41-14.

Mikaela Reynolds led McKenzie with 17 points,  Kylie Reynolds scored 14 and Sophie Pate contributed 11.

Sarah Rankhorn led Central with 10.

McKenzie improves to 8-4. The Lady Rebs played 3A state runner-up Southside Tuesday and will open district play by hosting Big Sandy Friday night.
