Lady Rebels rally for Camden win

McKenzie’s Lady Rebel softball team found itself down 5-0 in the first two innings but rallied in the next three to take down visiting Camden 8-5 last Tuesday, March 15. 

Payton Ognibene had a big day. She scattered nine hits, struck out four and pounded a pair of doubles to help lead the Lady Rebels. Kassidy Brown was 3-3 with a home run and three RBI. Briley Auvenshine also was 3-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

Emmalee Stockdale led Camden with two hits, including a homer.

•MARTIN-WESTVIEW 11, MCKENZIE 0: Two teams who just won state basketball titles, playing with many of the same competitors, squared off last Monday, but not in Murfreesboro.

Kassidy Brown, Jaden Barton, Anna Robinson, Payton Ognibene, and Nicole Gibson each had hits for the Lady Rebels. 

Westview displayed hot bats in jumping to a big lead. McCall Sims, Piper Johnson and Emma Barner each crunched home runs for the Lady Chargers. Johnson added a double to her four hits and three RBI. Barner also doubled and had three RBI.

Angel Smith was the winning pitcher, fanning four and striking out six.
