Huntingdon High School hosted nine different schools and 244 runners at the annual Cross-Country Meet at Kelley Complex on September 13 and Huntingdon’s Colton King continues to dominate the area as he was the top medalist in the boy’s race and the Huntingdon Fillies as a team earned a second-place finish for the day.
King who has been top medalist in several different meets for the season easily earned the top honors at the HHS Meet as he finished almost a full minute ahead of the second-place finisher Julius Brown of Adamsville. King ran the 3.1-mile track in 17:03.4 and Brown recorded an 18:01.8 time. Zach Bassham of Lexington was third at 18:14.7. Sean Simpson of Huntingdon was the next top runner for the Mustangs at 19:08.7 and finished 16th. Owen Crocker of Hollow Rock – Bruceton was the Tigers top runner finishing 21th.
The Fillies as a team recorded 91 points for a second-place finish behind Obion County who totaled 55 points. Madison finished third at 97 points. Quinn Kelley was the top runner for the Fillies with a time of 23:55.2 and finished 13th. Lilly Wortham finished 21th at 24:54.7 and Claire Cary was 31th with a time of 27:02.7 for the Fillies.
Adamsville was the top boys’ team with Lexington coming in second and the Mustangs came in with a fourth-place finish.
