Mr. James Thomas “Jim” Woodson, 72, of McKenzie passed away Saturday, Oct. 19 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at noon in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Marlowe Cemetery in Fruitvale. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Madison Academy Alumni Association in Jim’s name.
Pallbearers who will serve are Thomas Woodson, Zachary Woodson, Joshua “J.J.” Woodson, Jeffrey Mathews, Brandon Bennett, and Jimmy Woodson.
The family will receive friends in the Cherrywood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Mr. Woodson was born June 20, 1947, in Alamo to James Thomas Woodson Sr. and Elizabeth Burrow Woodson. He served in the Army and was a co-owner and manager of a local
insurance agency.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rita Woodson, two daughters, Jennifer Smith (Terry) of Murfreesboro, and Kathy Higgins of Woodbury, four sons, Thomas Woodson (Keri) of McKenzie, Zachary Woodson (Alla) of Chicago, Illinois, Joshua “J.J.” Woodson (Katie), of Paducah, Ky., and Jeff Mathews (Kay) of Lascassas, two sisters, Trannie
Woodson-Ball of Greenfield, and Ruth Kelly of Cedar Grove, one brother, Dwayne Woodson, of McKenzie, fifteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
