Huntingdon Woman’s Club gather for first time since March 2020

The Huntingdon Woman’s Club met on April 14, 2021 at the historical site of the Long Rock Methodist Church for an add a dish meal. The ladies were thankful to gather together for the first meeting since March of 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic. Mrs. A.G. Warren served as hostess for the meeting  and decorated the tables with white table cloths and gold chargers.  Baskets of spring flower arrangements added to the beauty of the tables. There were fifteen members present with four guest.  After a delicious meal of a variety of different foods prepared by the ladies, the meeting was called to order by president, Mrs. Gus Radford.

First on the agenda was the loss of one of the clubs long time member, Mrs. Kenneth Houston.  She was a great asset to the club for many, many years and will be deeply missed.  A donation was made to the library in her memory. 

A committee of Mrs. William Allen, Mrs. Tony Tucker, and Ms. Sara Townsend was selected by Mrs. Radford to research a meeting place for the club till the hospital opens to the public again.

The yearly dues will be due at the August meeting.

The officers for the 2021-2022 year will be: President-Mrs. Gus Radford; Vice President- Mrs. Billy Cary; Secretary- Mrs. Glenn Tippitt; Treasurers – Mrs. David Gibson and Mrs. Doug Pruitt.

 A motion was made by Mrs. Billy Cary to nominate Mrs. Patsy Raworth as a new member to the club. A second was made by Mrs. A.G. Warren and the motion passed.  The club welcomes Mrs. Raworth as a new member.

The next meeting will be on August 4, 2021 with Mrs. Glenn Tippitt speaking on Candace Parker from the Tennessee Women’s basketball team.  The 2021- 2022 program theme will be on “Iconic Women Athletes” that was postponed from last year due to the virus. The location of the meeting will be decided at a later date.
