Huntingdon Police Reports

High Speed Pursuit

•Jefferson Arlen Mills, 37, of Eva was charged with felony evading (two counts), felony reckless endangerment, and speeding (two counts) following a Dec. 21 high speed pursuit that ended in Huntingdon.

According to the report by Officer Labe Ezell, he was notified at around 10:50 p.m. about two motorcycles being pursued by officers on Highway 70 heading toward Huntingdon. Officer Shelton Moon had attempted to pull over the motorcycles for speeding in Hollow Rock, but they had sped away. Sheriff’s deputies had picked up the pursuit. Ezell took up the pursuit of one of the motorcycles as it came into Huntingdon along East Main Street, turned north on Paris Street at the court square, turned onto Veterans Drive, circled back around to Lexington Street, then turned onto the Highway 22 towards Clarksburg. Ezell noted that the motorcycle reached speeds in excess of 125 mph. As Ezell topped the hill near Miller Road, he saw the motorcycle and the driver in a ditch beside the highway. Ezell conducted a felony takedown of the driver, who was identified as Mills, and took him into custody. While Ezell initially thought Mills had wrecked the motorcycle, Mills later told the officer that he had pulled the bike into the ditch in hopes that he would not be seen. Mills was transported to the Carroll County Jail with bond set at $8,000. The unidentified driver of the other motorcycle escaped pursuing officers into Henry County.
