Huntingdon man dies after jumping in front of vehicle

Joshua Haynes, 28, of Huntingdon died Monday afternoon of injuries he received when he jumped in front of a vehicle on Highway 70 near the Carroll County Co-Op in Huntingdon.

Huntingdon Public Safety director Walter Smothers said Haynes had already run in front of other cars that had apparently managed to miss him, according to witnesses.

He ran in front of westbound traffic as a means to cause his death and was struck by a 17-year-old female driver, said Smothers.

According to family members, Haynes had been threatening suicide for a few months, Smothers said.

Memorial services are Saturday at 1 p.m. at Chase Funeral Home.
