How to Make More Time for Yourself

All of us have our own interests we want to pursue, but there’s never enough time, right? Between working, taking care of a home or family, and life in general, there are still ways to find more time. If you’d like to learn how to make more time for yourself, keep reading our guide below.

Examine your responsibilities, and start saying “no”

Believe it or not, you are the key to finding more time for yourself. We understand that everybody has responsibilities and obligations, but most people can change how many obligations they have. In fact, a lot of our so-called “responsibilities” aren’t our responsibility at all. Have you recently taken on duties at work that aren’t part of your job? You’re probably telling yourself that you’re responsible for more than you actually are. There’s no word more powerful than “no,” and you need to start using it. Will it be hard? Yes, especially for those who regularly take on a lot more than necessary. But once you start saying “no,” you’re going to see how much time you really have.

Put down your devices

All of us are guilty of falling into the world of social media, games, text messaging, emails, and calls—all in the palm of our hands. Do yourself a favor by putting the devices down. Even if you block out an hour every day in which you pledge to not touch your phone, tablet, or computer, you’ll begin to see results. One of our favorites days to celebrate is Saturday, and not just because it’s Saturday. There’s a challenge that’s been around for a while called “Screenless Saturday,” in which you go the entire day without purposely looking at any screens. Our devices take up a lot more of our time than they deserve; take your life back.

Remove tasks you don’t want to do

We know life is always busy, even if you’re following our previous suggestions. But life always finds a way of sneaking in with tasks we would rather avoid. For example, many people dislike cleaning. Although there are many reasons to hire a professional house cleaner, one major perk is that it will leave you with more time for yourself. There are services that will take care of whatever task you don’t like to do, as long as you’re willing to pay for it. By delegating the tasks you don’t want to do, you’ll have more time to invest in your happiness.

Now that you know a few ways to make more time for yourself, you can spend more time with your family and friends. Maybe there’s a hobby you’ve always wanted to start, or you simply need to rest––we get it. Once you implement some boundaries in your life, you can start using that extra time however you choose.
