HMS Mustangs win three, Fillies 1-2 for week

The Huntingdon Middle School basketball teams had a busy week as they played three games with two of those games on the road. The Mustangs went 3-0 for the week to run their season record to 9-2, and the Fillies lost two of three to stand at 6-5 for the season with two regular season games remaining. 

The Mustangs started the week with a 39-38 win over McKenzie as Jordon Willis made a three-pointer with 1:32 left in the game for the win. Willis led the Mustangs with 12 points, followed by Tayshawn Rivers with 10, Kaleb Pearson 9, Ashton Hutcherson 6, Gray Eubanks 1, and Deshaun Knight 1. Tate Surber led McKenzie with 20, followed by Landon Brown with 6, Stafford Roditis 5, Drew Chappel 3, Christopher Beck 2, and Hayden Garrett 2.

In the opening game on Monday at home, the Fillies fell to the Lady Rebels 31-25 as Lilly Kee scored 11, Kelby Crossno 8, Delaney Byars 4, and Ashlyn Rich 2. McKenzie was led by Mikaela Reynolds with 16, Savannah Davis 9, and Kyeona Sneed 6.

Both teams took to the road on Tuesday with the Fillies winning over Gleason 39-30 as Kee scored 15, Crossno 13, Josey Stokes 7, Byars 2, and Rich 2. Gleason was led by Jaeda Perry with 15. 

The Mustangs had no trouble in the night cap winning 56-19 over the Bulldogs as Rivers led the way with 19, followed by Hutcherson 12, Knight 7, Jax Bennett 5, Graydon Hall 4, Eubanks 3, Easton Byars 2, Gabe Smothers 2, and Cole Chafin 2. Kyzer Crochet led Gleason with 7.

Thursday saw HMS travel to Dresden, and the Mustangs came up with a 40-26 victory. Rivers led the way with 15, followed by Willis 8, Graham Bartholomew 6, Pearson 6, Knight 2, E.J. Lewis 2, and Landon Bryant 1. Nick Turnbow led Dresden with 9. 

The Fillies played shorthanded due to sickness and fell to Dresden 29-16. Kee led the way with 6, followed by Byars 4, Rich 4, and Quinn Kelley 2. Ashlee Mallon led Dresden with 8.
