HMS basketball has busy week on the court

Through just two weeks of the middle school basketball seasons the HMS Fillies and Mustangs already have seven games under their belts with three of those coming this past week. The Fillies defeated West Carroll 30-25 on Monday, Clarksburg 65-4 on Tuesday and lost to McKenzie 37-31 on Thursday. The Mustangs defeated West Carroll 34-32, Clarksburg 63-6, and McKenzie 53-29.

The Fillies finished the week with a 5-2 record with their loss to McKenzie. Camdyn Sellers led the Fillies with 10 points, Tatum Rich 7, Wylie Kee 6, Knox Bennett 4, Grier Bartholomew 2, and Emalynn Maness 2. McKenzie was led by Jaycee Stafford with 22. Stafford was 16-17 from the foul line with 12 of those coming in the fourth quarter. Madeline Gottshall 10, Addison Milam 4, and Braylin Auvenshire 1.

In the Fillies win over West Carroll, Bennett scored 12, Bartholomew 7, Maness 4, Kee 3, Taylor Canovan 2, and Adyson Roberson 2. West Carroll was led by Taylor Robinson with 10, Metcalf 6, Coleman 4, Verman 3, Mueller 2.

Against Clarksburg, Alli Harris led the way with 13, Bennett 12, Bartholomew 9, Canovan 5, Kee 8, Maness 2, Dunbar 2, Anderson 2, Mitchell 2, and Robertson 2. Clarksburg was led by Carlie Swinford 3 and Lewis 1.

The Mustangs who are 6-1 for the season were led in the win over McKenzie were led by Kenton Smith with 20, Bryson Whiteside 12, Greyson Anderson 7, Lucas Smith 5, Zayden Connelly 3, Hayes Eubanks 3, and Colt Luther 3. McKenzie was led by Nolan Fawcett 10, Melton 8, C. Brown 5, A. Brown 4, Gordon 1, and K. Brown 1.

Against West Carroll the Mustangs were led by Connelly with 11, Whiteside 7, L. Smith 6, Eubanks 4, K.Smith 3, and Kylen Turner 3. West Carroll was led by Darian Taylor 18, Hammett 4, Robinson 4, Fowler 3, and Bosley 3.

In the win over Clarksburg the Mustangs were led by K. Smith with 15, L. Smith 8, Gray 6, Anderson 4, Connelly 4, Kee 4, Eubanks 4, Luther 4, Whiteside 2, Holmes 2, and Courtney 2. Clarksburg was led by Vestal, Holter, and Lewis who scored two points each.
