High-speed chase ends in arrest

A run from the law has resulted in five charges and a wrecked automobile for Peyton Whitmore of Atwood.

On Saturday around 2 p.m. Carroll County Deputy Chris Adams noticed that Whitmore was driving a vehicle with the wrong tags.

Whitmore sped down Jax Road and failed to honor the deputy’s blue lights to stop. He drove down Old Milan Road and crashed through a fence and turned around and went down Jax Road again, crossed Highway 79 and onto Bryant Rd. where he lost control and crashed into a tree. He abandoned the vehicle which, according to Adams belonged to his girlfriend.

He was later apprehended by deputy Roger White.

Whitmore was charged with felony evading arrest, evading, reckless endangerment, registration violation and financial responsibility.

His bond was set at $11,000.
