Grand Champion Cake

Dottie Walker of Trezevant baked the Fair’s Grand Champion Cake this year. It is chocolate through and through even to the icing. If you like chocolate, you’ll love this cake.

Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Icing

Ingredients

3 cups self rising flour

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup cocoa

3 eggs

Stick salted butter

Milk 

1/2 cup milk to mix to cake consistency

Icing

Stick of butter partially melted

1/2 cup cocoa

1-1/2 lbs. powdered sugar 

Milk to mix together

Tsp. plain flour

1 tsp vanilla two caps full

Directions

Bake at 350 degrees for  30-35 minutes or a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with fudgy crumbs (preferred, as sometimes a clean toothpick can indicate the cake is overdone).
