Gene Robert McMackins, 84, passed away Friday, September 17 at his home. Funeral services were held Monday, September 20 in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Steve Davis officiating. Burial followed at Prospect Cemetery.
Mr. McMackins was born December 14, 1936, in Hollow Rock to the late Russell Rueben and Jurrah Bell (Rogers) McMackins. He retired from the Milan Arsenal, served in the US Army and was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Other than his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 53 years; Mary Nell McMackins and ten siblings.
He is survived by a son; Russell “Russ” McMackins of Brevard, N.C., four daughters; Teresa McMackins of McKenzie, Amy Jo Hollingsworth (fiancée Billy Melton) of Three Way, Sherrie Jean Finnan (Dave) of Brevard, N.C., Bonnie Gayle Hilliard (Bruce) of Bruceton, and one stepdaughter; Kathy Dunham of Huntingdon. He also leaves ten grandchildren; Charly, John, Danny, Katie, Aaron, Brandon, Michael, Brandee, Shane, Jessica, and six great grandchildren.
Pallbearers who served were; Bruce Hilliard, David Finnan, Michael Hilliard, Aaron Hilliard, Brandon Hilliard, and Danny Hollinsworth.
