Gene Perry

Carlton Gene Perry, 78, of Clarksburg, passed Tuesday, Jan. 5 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 7 in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Chase Sanders officiating. Burial followed in Seller’s Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Gene Perry was born September 10, 1942 in Big Sandy, to the late Ottie B. Perry and Nancy Asilee (Cooper) Perry. He was retired from the Carroll County Highway Department and a member of Clarksburg Church of Christ. He enjoyed riding horses, later in life riding his side by side, and loved socializing with his friends at J & J in Clarksburg.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Ella Wheatley and one brother, Bobby Perry.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara Perry; two sons, Jimmy (Debbie) Perry, and Jeff (Sheila) Perry both of Clarksburg; and one sister, Ardella Stepp of Big Sandy.
He also leaves three grandchildren; Helen Perry, Steven Todd, and Johnny Todd; and three great-grandchildren, Peyton Collins, Trenton Todd, and Kyleigh Todd.
Pallbearers who served were Myron Gurley, Jeremy Gurley, George Avery, Jimmy Pritchard, Ricky Scott, and Ricky Pritchard.  Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Hardy, Bennie Hardy, and Billy Hardy.
