Free Hunter Safety Education course offered

     A Tennessee Hunter Safety Course will be offered, beginning Monday, MARCH 21, 2022, at the Carroll County Civic Center, 205 Mustang Drive, Huntingdon, Tennessee.  Classes will begin at 6:00 p.m. each night and will last approximately 3.5 hours.  The Class will meet on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday Nights.  Attendance of all Classes is required to complete the Course.  The Course is free and is conducted by all volunteer instructors.

     The successful completion of a Hunter Safety Course is required of all persons born on or after January 1, 1969, before they can purchase a hunting license.  This is also a requirement for any Tennessee resident wishing to hunt in most other states.  The only age requirement is that you must be 9 years of age prior to October 30, 2022.  No one is too old to take the Course.

     The Course will cover such topics as Wildlife Management, Survival, Wildlife Identification, Archery, Handguns, Black Powder Weapons, Modern Rifles and Shotguns, First Aid, and Hunter Ethics and Responsibilities.  The main theme of the Course is Safety and this will be stressed throughout the Course.  A live firing range will be participated in by all that take the Course.

     A variety of films as well as speakers will present the topics of the Course.  The Course has something for everyone from the beginning hunter to the veteran.

     If you want to take the Course, bring a pencil and know or write down your Social Security Number; and be at the Carroll County Civic Center on Monday, MARCH 21ST, at 6:00 p.m., and learn how to be a safe – responsible hunter.
