Fred’s in Huntingdon on closing list

Huntingdon’s Fred store is among the 104 discount chain stores that are closing in 13 states. This is the second round of store closings.

Assistant manager Amanda Lykins, who has worked at the Huntingdon store for one and half years, said the closing would affect four employees.

“We have a storewide sale on items from five to 40 percent off,” she said.

Although she’s not sure when the store will be closing, she says it could stay open until June.

There are 15 stores closing in Tennessee.

The closest ones to Huntingdon are in Humboldt, Milan, Savannah and Union City.

Other Tennessee locations going out of business are Sparta, Sweetwater, three in Memphis, Lafayette, Etowah, Columbia, Centerville and Bartlett.

The McKenzie store was not on the list.
