Fillies stay atop district – Top Lady Tigers 7-2

The Huntingdon Fillies had a couple of days off early in the week last week after playing in a tournament the weekend before. They returned to action in district play on the road in Bruceton and the Fillies improved to 6-0 in district play to keep a stronghold on the top spot of the district with a 7-2 win over the Lady Tigers.

The Fillies got on the board in the first inning as Kayla Pulling doubled to give the Fillies an early 1-0 lead. The Fillies scored two more times in the inning as Kenadie Gibson grounded out and Ava Ryan Canovan scored on the play for a 2-0 lead. Pulling would score with two outs as Rylee Holladay grounded out and collected an RBI to give the Fillies a 3-0 lead after one inning of play.

Alivia Hampton hit a home run in the bottom of the fourth for the Lady Tigers to make the score 3-1. The Lady Tigers would narrow the margin to 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, and Kelley Williams doubled, scoring Burton. The Fillies would get that run back in the top of the sixth as Holladay singled and Kaylan Belew scored to make the score 4-2.

The Fillies added three runs in the top of the seventh as Josie Sanders led off getting hit by a pitch, Madison Mann singled with one-out to put runners at first and third, and Kayla Pulling walked to load the bases. Kenadie Gibson was hit by a pitch, forcing in a run and a 5-2 lead, and then Holladay singled, scoring two runs and providing the final margin of 7-2.

Holladay led the Fillies at the plate as she was 2-4 and drove in four runs. Pulling was 2-3 and scored twice while driving in one run. Fuller scored twice and had a single, Gibson was 1-3 and drove in two, and Sanders and Mann both had a hit. Holladay was also the winning pitcher by going all seven innings. Neveah Davis was 2-4 for Bruceton, Williams 2-4, and Hampton hit the home run for the Lady Tigers and pitched for the loss.
