Fillies split games; Mustangs lose two

 The Huntingdon Fillies and Mustangs played two district 12-AA games this past week and have two remaining as the end of the season winds down. The fillies split their two games as they won over Union City on the road 74-50 on Tuesday but lost at home Friday to Gibson County 58-50. The Mustangs lost at Union City 67-50 and to Gibson County 70-54.

 In the Fillies win over Union City, junior forward Lilly Kee scored 26 points for the Fillies and surpassed 1,000 points in her career in the game. Sophie Singleton joined Kee in double figures with points as she totaled 20 for the game. Sydney Anderson scored 8, Josey Stokes 7, Delaney Byars 4, Sara Beth Smith 4, Annabelle Singleton 3, and Lia Fuller 2. Amari Bonds scored 24 for Union City in the loss and surpassed 2,000 points in her senior season for the Lady Golden Tornadoes.

 The Fillies led in their game against Gibson County at the end of three quarters 40-36 but the Lady Pioneers scored 22 points in the final quarter to the Fillies 10 and the Lady Pioneers who shot 21 foul shots for the game made 13-17 in the final frame for the difference in the game. The Fillies were led in scoring by Kee with 22, Anderson 11, S. Singleton 7, Byars 6, and A. Singleton 4. Gibson County was led by Micah hart with 23 and Evyn Cantrell with 16.

 The Mustangs struggled offensively in their two games and in their loss to Union City were led in scoring by Ty Kelley and Ethan Ramsey with 15 each, Tycen Willis 11, E.J. Lewis 5, Landon Gordon 4. D.J. Robinson led Union City with 27 and Joseph Lattus scored 18.

 The Mustangs played better offensively in the second half against Gibson County after only 18 points in the first half but trailed 38-18 at the break. The Mustangs had the edge in the second half 36-32 but loss their fifth district game of the year after winning their first. Kelley led the Mustangs with 13, T. Willis 12 and seven rebounds, Ramsey 11, Lewis 10, Gordon 4, Ezell 2, and Pearson 2. Ethan Turner led Gibson County with 23 and Matthew Reynolds scored 22.

 The Fillies with their loss and win on the road stand at 20-4 for the season and 3-3 in the district. The Mustangs fell to 8-14 and 1-5 in the district.
