ALL-REGION FILLIES – Huntingdon’s Lilly Kee and Annabelle Singleton received All-Region 6-2A Tournament honors.

The Huntingdon Fillies faced Martin Westview for the fourth time this season in the semifinals of Region 6-2A on Feb. 28. After three double-digit losses to the Lady Chargers, the Fillies overcame a 12-point deficit at the half but fell short by a 40-34 margin to see their season end at 17-14. The Fillies did not list a single senior on their roster, and the possibility is great that they can improve on what was still a great 2021-22 season.

The Fillies only managed three points in the first quarter of the game against Westview and five in the first half, trailing 12-3 at the end of the first and 17-5 at the half. The Fillies cut two points off that margin as they outscored Westview 11-9 in the third. The two top scorers for the Fillies this season combined for all 11 points in third as Sophie Singleton scored three points and Lilly Kee scored eight points. Fillies trailed 26-16 going into the fourth quarter.

The Fillies stepped up the defense in the second half as they forced seven turnovers in the third quarter and three more in the fourth. Sydney Anderson knocked down the only two three-pointers of the game for the Fillies and pulled the Fillies to within four points of the lead on two separate occasions. But Westview salted the game away in the final quarter by going to the free throw line 12 times in the final quarter, making nine to advance to the region finals.

The Fillies were led by Kee with 13 points for the game, and she added eight rebounds. Singleton scored 11 points with six coming in the final quarter and had five rebounds. Anderson scored six, and Delaney Byars and Lia Fuller scored two apiece. The Fillies were great from the foul line by making 10-11 but only made two three pointers in 13 attempts.

Jada Harrison led Westview with 14, followed by Sims 9, Brigance 6, Barr 4, Alexander 4, and Sheffield with 3. The Lady Chargers made seven three-pointers for the game.
