Feb. 19-25 is Severe Weather Awareness Week! Being prepared when severe weather strikes cans save your life. Join us this week as we share information on threats and hazards!
More than half of all flooding deaths occur in vehicles. Never cross a flooded road or walkway. Please TURN AROUND DON’T DROWN!
Know where to take shelter during a tornado:
√ Tornado storm shelters or safe rooms are best.
√ Basements & interior rooms are also good.
X Vehicles are not safe.
X Shed, storage facilities & highway overpasses are not safe.
What do you do when lightning strikes?
√ Go indoors if you see lightning or hear thunder
√ Bring your pets with you
X Don’t use corded phones, electrical equipment & plumbing
FACT: It doesn’t have to be raining where you are for lightning to be a threat. Lightning can strike 10-15 MILES from a thunderstorm!
