Elvis B. Melton

Elvis B. Melton, 89, of Huntingdon, passed away Tuesday, August 10 at Baptist Memorial Hospital.  

Funeral services were held Friday, August 13 in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Philip Halter, Tracy McDaniel, and Jerry Lawson officiating.  Burial followed at New Crossroads Cemetery.

Mr. Melton was born on December 27, 1931, in Huntingdon, to the late Houston B. Melton and Ava J. (Brinkley) Melton. He was a life-long farmer and a member of the New Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Barbara (Cooper) Melton; first cousins, John Innis, Jim Innis; and an aunt, Opal Batson, all of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a nephew, Randy Cooper; three nieces, Kathy Howell (Chris), Susan Montgomery (Ricky), Karen Townsend (Dennis). He also leaves his loving Amish Community Family, especially the family of Nathaneal Borntrager. Pallbearers who served were Ivan Borntrager, Rudy Borntrager, Orva Yoder, John Schwartz, Jacob Borntrager, and Andrew Jay Mast. Honorary pallbearers were Eli Borntrager and Ezra Borntrager.
