Early voting continues at record level, ends Thursday

A record number of voters in Carroll County and across the state continue to participate in the early voting option, but that option ends on Thursday, Oct. 29.

From the date early voting began on Oct. 14 through Saturday, Oct. 24, Carroll County voters had cast 5,612 early ballots and mailed in 502 absentee ballots for a total of 6,114 votes cast.

That’s an increase of over 57 percent above voting numbers for the same period during the 2016 election.

The biggest day for early voting in the county was on Oct. 16, when 751 ballots were cast.

Statewide, early voting numbers were up nearly 40 percent over 2016 levels as of Saturday.

County voters still wishing to cast an early ballot can do so this week from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the Carroll County Election Commission Office in the Office Complex on High Street in Huntingdon until early voting closes on Thursday.

The deadline for requesting an absentee ballot was Tuesday, Oct. 27.
