Dorothy Ann Sanders

1945-2019

Dorothy Ann Sanders, 73, formerly of Huntingdon, passed away Friday, February 15, in Montrose, Colorado, after a brave battle with Alzheimers. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22, in the chapel of Dilday-Carter Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Long Rock Cemetery.

Mrs. Sanders was born February 24, 1945 in Red Bay, Alabama to the late Jessie James Sprouse and Ocie Eaton Sprouse. She will be remembered as one of the kindest, dearest and loving ladies with a laugh, never to be forgotten. It was often said that she never met a stranger. She was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Crockett Sanders Jr.; a daughter Sherry Jane Sanders; 10 siblings, JR Sprouse, Jerry Sprouse, J. C. Sprouse, Larry Sprouse, Bill Sprouse, Donnie Sprouse, Ronnie Sprouse, Ruby Brown, Ruth Burns and Peggy Moody. 

She is survived by her husband, Samuel Sanders; two daughters Samantha (Joe) Gruszkowski, of Crown Point, Indiana, and Sandra Sanders, of Germantown; two granddaughters, Brittany Gruszkowski, of Demotte, Indiana, and Melissa Smolin of Knoxville; two grandsons, Joey Gruszkowski, of Crown Point, Indiana and Matthew Smolin, of Telluride, Colorado; two brothers, Johnny Mac, of Florida, and Bobby Joe, of Missouri. A special thank you to Valley Manor of Montrose, Colorado for the exceptional care they gave to Mrs. Dorothy Sanders.
