District 11A Tournament resumes this week after weather delays

After this recent bout with immoderate winter weather, District 11A will at last play out its basketball tournament this week.

The district tournament started on Feb. 13 with first-round girls’ games as the West Carroll Lady War advanced past the Hollow Rock-Bruceton Lady Tigers and the Big Sandy Lady Red Devils defeated the Clarksburg Lady Rockets.

And after a week-long snow break, district action cranked back up on Monday with boys’ quarterfinal and girls’ semifinal games.

The Big Sandy boys played at Hollow Rock-Bruceton (4 vs. 5 at 5 p.m. ) on Monday and Clarksburg boys visited McKenzie (3 vs. 6 at 6 p.m.) in the quarterfinals.

In girls’ semifinals, West Carroll girls traveled to Huntingdon for a 6 p.m. start, and Big Sandy ventured to McKenzie for a 7:30 tip.

Tuesday night, the Clarksburg-McKenzie winner traveled to Huntingdon for the 11A boys’ semifinals, and the Big Sandy-Bruceton winner also visited West Carroll. Both 11A semifinal games started at 6 p.m.

Results from Monday’s and Tuesday’s tournament games were not available as of press time Monday.

Wednesday night at 6 p.m., the girls’ consolation and championship rounds will begin at the home site of the high seeds.

Thursday night, the boys’ 11A consolation and championship games will be played, starting at 6 p.m.
