COVID Precautions

I don’t know what else people can do to stay safe from COVID. I got my first shot (Moderna) before our most recent trip and have the second one scheduled for April 3.

The first shot was just like any other shot in the arm. I did not get any headaches or sore arm and no swelling. I am looking forward to the second vaccine and hope that the results are the same.

When will it be safe to travel or to participate in large gatherings like pre-COVID? Will it be safe after the second vaccine? Will I still wear a mask in public?

We just returned from a week on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. We travelled through Tennessee, South Carolina and back through Georgia. Everywhere we went masks were expected to be worn. Most places would not let us enter without masks that covered our noses.

Restaurants on the return trip had everyone wait in their cars until a table was ready.

I don’t have a problem with wearing a mask. It is inconvenient to say the least, but that is about it. Remembering to wear one is still hard to do. I don’t know how many times I got out of the car and almost to the door before remembering, which meant a return to the car to fetch the mask.

If vaccines and masks don’t make the virus go away, then I don’t know what will.

Some say all this is political but the virus is real and infections do not seem to be declining much, if at all.

So I will continue to wear the mask out of respect for other people who may become offended if I go in a business without one.

What is your opinion? Will it get better soon or at all? We welcome letters to the editor and welcome a variety of opinions.
