County’s Extension Agent house burns

The residence of Carroll County Family and Consumer Science Extension Agent Lacy Yeley of Gleason was destroyed in a Feb. 27 fire. It occurred around 6 p.m.

Fire units from Gleason and other fire departments fought the blaze but were unable to save the two story vinyl siding structure that was only a few years old and located on the Janes Mill Road.

Lacy resided at the residence with her husband, Jordan, and two sons, Cooper and Colin, and her mother, Donna Arnold. Lacy’s father, Jim Arnold, died last year.

None of the family was at home at the time of the fire. According to reports, Lacy and her husband had been to eat in McKenzie and were on their way home when they received the news. The children were at the home of the Yeley grandparents and Arnold was at her sister’s house in Humboldt.

According to Danny Brawner, Lacy’s uncle, it was believed the house was struck by lightning.
