County unemployment at 3.7 percent for December

According to figures from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Carroll County’s unemployment rate for December of last year was at 3.7 percent, up from 3.2 in November and down from 6.0 in December of 2020.

Of the county’s available workforce of 11,915 people, only 437 were reported as being without jobs during December, 2021.

Tennessee’s overall jobless rate was at 3.8 in December, down from 4.0 in November, while the nation’s December rate was 3.9, a drop from 4.2 during the previous month.

Perry County topped out the state for the highest unemployment at 7.9, and Williamson County boasted the lowest rate at 2.1.

December unemployment rates in surround counties included: 4.2 in Benton Co., 4.9 in Decatur Co., 3.4 in Gibson Co., 3.5 in Henderson Co., 3.8 in Henry Co., 3.3 in Madison Co., and 3.2 in Weakley Co.
