Most of Carroll County’s governmental, court, and other public service offices have been closed to public access due to the coronavirus pandemic, pending further notice.
County Mayor Joseph Butler put out a press release regarding the situation on Monday.
“Under guidance from the Tennessee Department of Heath and other agencies’ guidance, our preparations have been to immediately shut down county-owned facilities, with some exceptions, to the public …,” wrote Butler. “However, it is our responsibility and honor to continue serving you during these unprecedented times. So while facilities are closed to the public, all essential and emergency services will remain available to the public.”
“Our goal is to serve you efficiently, while also taking a number of precautions to protect the health and wellbeing of those we are blessed to be able to serve.”
Butler added that many transactions and matters of business can still be handled by phone, online, or through the mail. A list of relevant phone numbers, websites, and mail addresses is included at the bottom of this article.
Butler pointed out that the Carroll County Health Department will remain open, though they are asking people to call 731-986-1990 before visiting.
In cases of medical or other emergencies, county residents should call 911.
Offices at the Carroll County Courthouse and court offices across the state have also been closed to the public per order by the Tennessee Supreme Court.
Court proceedings, including trials and hearings, have also been suspended with some exceptions.
According to Circuit Court Clerk Sarah Bradberry, alternative methods to help the public deal with court matters have been put in place.
“Office personnel are still available to assist you,” said Bradberry. “The public may reach us by phone with any questions or concerns. We encourage customers to either make payments through money order mail-in or online at www.courtfeepay.com.”
Bradberry added that she is looking into installing a drop box for payments at the main eastside door of the courthouse.
