McKenzie’s City Florist owners David and Michele were recognized March 25 with Tennessee’s Small Business Development Center ’s (SBDC) Rising Star Award.
In celebration of SBDC Day on March 17, SBDCs across the nation identified business success stories and presented Rising Star Awards.
“The Rising Star Award is given annually to a business that best exemplifies not only business success, but an outstanding working relationship with our Center and the utilization of the services it provides,” said Landy Fuqua, director of the TSBDC at the UT Martin REED Center who presented the award. “In presenting the award to David and Michele, we recognize the entrepreneurial spirit of the business owners and their tenacity in growing and developing their business while engaging the community to create a positive economic impact in the region.”
Mayor Jill Holland was also present for the award presentation.
For over 40 years the America’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network has helped millions of men, women, veteran and minority entrepreneurs and small business owners start and grow their businesses. With nearly 1,000 locations across the country, SBDCs are in every community providing local businesses and entrepreneurs with the resources need to succeed. To celebrate the collective impact and success SBDCs have across the nation and in local communities each year, America’s SBDCs are hosting the fifth annual SBDC Day, March 17th. SBDC Day is a national movement to help share the small business success stories and notable impact SBDCs have fostered in communities nationwide.
Covid-19 brought many challenges to our small business community and the Tennessee SBDC (TSBDC) worked diligently to navigate small businesses through the many obstacles.
