Who’s in for a chocolate high this week? It sounds like this delicious recipe fits the bill.
3/4 cup ( 1 1/2 sticks) butter or margarine
1-1/2 cups self-rising flour
1-1/4 cups sugar
5-1/4 teaspoons baking cocoa
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3/4 cup milk
1-1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup baking cocoa
2-1/4 cups boiling water
Melt the butter in a 9 x 13 inch baking pan in the oven. Combine the flour, 1-1/4 cups sugar, 5-1/4 teaspoons baking cocoa, vanilla and milk in a bowl and mix well. Pour evenly over the melted butter in the baking pan. Mix 1-1/2 cups sugar and 1/2 cup baking cocoa together.
Sprinkle over the batter in the pan. Pour the boiling water evenly over the top, do not stir. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Serves 8 to 10.
