Chamber says National Day of Prayer plans change

The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce has announced plans for the 2020 National Day of Prayer in Carroll
County.
In accordance with CDC COVID-19 guideline: no public gatherings are to be greater than 10 people, changes to
the normal events are having to be alternated.
The Chamber is:
•Asking all Carroll Countians to join in prayer at 8 am on Thursday, May 7 th to pray for all Carroll Countians and
our leaders.
•To view the National Day of Prayer event at https://www.nationaldayofprayer.org. This will begin at 7 p.m.
C.S.T.
The theme for this years National Day of Prayer is “Pray God’s Glory Across the Earth, Amen!!”
The scripture for this year is Habakkuk 2:14 For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the
LORD as the water cover the sea.
The National Day of Prayer tradition predates the founding of the United States of America, evidenced by the
Continental Congress’ proclamation in 1775 setting aside a day of prayer. In 1952, Congress established an annual
day of prayer and, in 1988, that law was amended, designating the National Day of Prayer as the first Thursday in
May.
Since 2015, the Chamber has hosted an annual county-wide prayer gathering
at the Carroll County Airport. CDC guidelines do not permit this to occur, currently. The prayer event may be
hosted later this year.
Please contact the Chamber office at 986-4664 if you have any questions.
