Thank You to Fair Volunteers

The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce wishes to thank everyone who helped in our food booth during the Carroll County Fair this year. Your work is greatly appreciated. We also want to say a big thank you to all who purchased food from the Chamber food booth.

 Carroll County Sports Shooting Park Clay Shoot Postponed

The sporting clays shoot for October 10th has been postponed and rescheduled for October 17th.

 Veterans Honor Guard

Veterans Honor Guard of Parkers Crossroads is seeking new members. Meetings and training are held each Thursday @ 8:30 am at 2150 Wildersville Road in Wildersville. Any honorably discharged veteran who is interested may stop by to speak to members, ask questions, or offer suggestions.  Scarecrow Grove in McKenzie Downtown

Come participate in McKenzie’s seasonal celebration by creating a scarecrow to lurk about in their downtown park and green spaces. This contest is open to elementary, middle and high school students. The deadline to enter is October 16th. Forms can by picked up at McKenzie City Hall.  Monster Mash Movie Night

On October 29th, there will be a Halloween movie night at the McKenzie High School rear parking lot (23292-TN-22). It is $10 per car with a limit to 6 per vehicle. Doors will open at 5:15 pm. There will be a costume contest and goblins with goodies at 6:00-6:30pm. At 6:45 pm, the movie Hotel Transylvania will show. There will be food trucks available. You can purchase tickets at McKenzie City Hall until October 27th @ 4:30 pm.

 McKenzie Rotary Club To Host Monster Dash

On Halloween, the McKenzie Rotary Club is hosting a Monster Dash 5K to benefit the McKenzie/Carroll County United Neighbors. The entry fee is four cans of canned food or a monetary donation. The 5K will start at 8:30 am, and the one-mile fun run will start at 9 am. Entry forms can be picked up at Block City Pizza, McKenzie Banking Company (downtown), and The McKenzie Banner.

 Halloween Festivals

Halloween is fast approaching. The following are updates on the Halloween activities this year.

Huntingdon – No Trunk or Treat

McKenzie – No Boo Bash

Bruceton – First Baptist Church in Bruceton will have a Trunk or Treat on Wednesday, October 28th @ 7:00 pm.

 Early Voting Begins October 14

Early voting for the November 3rd elections starts on Wednesday, October 14 and ends on Thursday, October 29.  Any registered voter residing in Carroll County may participate in early voting by going to the Election Commission Office located in the Carroll County Office Complex.

30 Second Business Thought of the Week

Avoid asking, “How may I help you?” This generally allows the customer to say “Just looking.” This may place you at a disadvantage for your sales opportunity. Think about saying “How are you?” or some such similar comment to break the ice. Avoid excessive small talk and get to the point.
