Central’s Dalton Williams signs for Bethel football

Bethel University recently released its 2019 football signing list, and of the 50-plus upcoming high school graduates signing with the Wildcats, only one is from Carroll County.

Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central High School senior Dalton Williams penned his intentions to attend and play football at Bethel during a February 12 signing ceremony in Central’s library.

A four-year player with the Tigers, Dalton has served as Central’s quarterback for the past three years, but he has been pegged to play as a wide receiver for the Wildcats.

Dalton was named to the All-District Team as a junior and a senior, and he has been awarded the Team Offensive MVP Award for the past two years in a row.

“I’m very proud of Dalton today,” said CHS principal Joe Norval, speaking to the entire football team during the signing ceremony. “He has the opportunity to play football at another level. But most importantly, he has the opportunity to get a degree.”

Norval pointed out that only 14 percent of Carroll County adult residents have a bachelor’s degree.

According to Dalton, the current success of the Wildcats football program had a lot to do with his choice of Bethel.

“And it’s close to home, too,” he added.

Dalton plans to major in physical education.

Attending the signing ceremony and showing their support for Dalton were his parents, Robert and Jennifer Williams, and his older sister, Haley Williams. Dalton also has a younger brother, Keylon Williams.
