Cecil Larry McGowan, 90, of Camden, passed away Thursday, Aug. 15, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson. Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 19, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Stockdale-Malin Funeral Home of Camden with Steve Davis officiating. Burial followed at the Camden City Cemetery.
Mr. McGowan was born July 27, 1929, to the late Theo McGowan and Cassie Biggart McGowan. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, retired boilermaker with TVA and the Boilermaker Local 455 as a boilermaker welder, a 3rd degree Mason, a member of Eastern Star, a 50 year Mason and member of the Camden Lodge 179, a member of BPOE 2156 and Woodmen of the World, and a member of Pleasant Hill Methodist Church in Lavinia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline “Jackie” McGowan, and brothers and sisters, Adriel McGowan, Gerald McGowan, Jessie McGowan, Elbert McGowan, Ivan McGowan, LaNelle Essary, Delmar McGowan and Ruth Clarke.
He is survived by a sister, Opel McGowan, of Jackson, a brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Brenda Pinson, of Bruceton; and several nieces and nephews.
