Carroll County’s unemployment rate has been climbing over the past two months, going up from the eighth highest rate in the state in May to eighth in June.
The county’s jobless rate rose from 4.6 percent in May to a June rate of 6.0 percent.
That was up a bit from June of last year when the county unemployment rate was 5.8 percent.
Of the county’s available workforce of 12,274 employable adults, 736 were reported as being unemployed during June.
For the whole state of Tennessee, joblessness increased slightly from May to June, jumping from 3.3 to 3.4 percent.
Hancock County reported the highest June rate at 7.7, while Williamson County boasted the lowest at 3.0.
National unemployment also rose slightly from 3.6 in May to 3.7 in June.
June unemployment rates in surrounding counties included 5.6 in Benton County, 5.4 in Decatur County, 4.9 in Gibson County, 4.8 in Henderson County, 4.5 in Henry County, 4.2 in Madison County, and 4.9 in Weakley County.
