Carroll County teen bound over for child rape

An 18-year-old Carroll County man will be facing a Grand Jury in Henderson County for allegedly committing sex crimes against a young child.

Joseph Paul Roberts (address unavailable) was recently bound over to the Henderson County Grand Jury on two counts of child rape.

According to information published in the Lexington Progress, Roberts was arrested on Jan. 29 by Inv. Crystal Duke with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Department.

Court documents state that the allegations against Roberts stem from incidents involving at five-year-old female child that occurred from Oct. 8 and Nov. 25 of last year.

The affidavit alleges that Roberts admitted that he touched the child in a private area but he denied other allegations.

Roberts waived his right to a preliminary hearing, sending his case directly to the Grand Jury, which next convenes on April 5 in Lexington.
