Drugs, Warrant
•Cheyenne Dean, 26, of Big Sandy was cited for simple possession of a schedule II drug and drug paraphernalia and arrested on an outstanding warrant on Oct. 14 in Huntingdon.
According to the report by Deputy Dennis Adkins, he was advised by a citizen at Hucks Convenience Store in Huntingdon about a female, possibly in distress, walking along Highway 70 about a mile outside of town. Adkins located the female, later identified as Dean, and made contact with her. Dean gave Adkins what was later determined to be a false name and birth date and told him that she had gotten into an argument with her boyfriend and was walking to a residence on Leach Road. Adkins offered to give her a ride, but when he asked her to open her purse to check for weapons, he saw a hypodermic needle that Dean tried to conceal. When asked, Dean handed the needle to Adkins. With probable cause, Adkins searched Dean’s purse, finding her driver’s license, which revealed her real name and age, and a marijuana pipe containing residue. The needle contained a liquid that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. A computer check showed Dean was wanted out of Benton County for violation of probation. Dean was transported to the Carroll County Jail to await transfer to Benton County.

Assault, DUI
•Tata Everett, 45, and Jaclyn Cozart, 42, both of 3180 Independence Road, Huntingdon, were both charged with simple assault, and Everett was additionally charged with DUI and vandalism under $1,000 during an Oct. 14 incident near Huntingdon.
According to the report by Deputy Ryan Hamilton, the Sheriff’s Department received a call about a reckless driver in a maroon truck hitting the rear of a Yuma woman’s car on Purdy Road. The woman followed the truck until both vehicles stopped on Independence Road, at which point Everett, the driver of the truck, got out, approached the victim’s car, and started punching her through the window with her fist and breaking the driver’s side rain guard. Everett then allegedly pulled the victim out of her car and started hitting her in the head, and Cozart allegedly joined in the assault. Upon arrival, deputies found Everett and Cozart to be in an intoxicated state. Highway Patrolman Tyler Milam also responded to the scene to investigate the traffic accident and charged Everett with DUI. The other charges were filed by deputies.

Burglary
•Deputies are investigating the recent burglary of a Bruceton residence.
Keith Smothers told deputies on Oct. 11 that a 48-inch flat screen TV valued at $400 was stolen from his residence at 2053 Butler School Road while he and his family were away at church. Smothers said they left for church at around 11 a.m., and when they returned at around 1:30 p.m., they found the front door ajar and the TV missing.

Burglary, Vandalism
•Anthony Eugene Avery, 37, of Jackson was charged with aggravated burglary, vandalism, and theft under $1,000 on Oct. 11.
According to the report by Deputy Ryan Hamilton, he responded to a theft call at 113 Highway 79 Lane in Atwood. The caller, Devonna Taylor, said that Avery, her ex-boyfriend, was taking her belongings from her residence and loading them onto his Chevrolet Silverado. Taylor said that Avery hasn’t lived at that residence since July, but he still had a key, though he had told her earlier that he had lost the key. Total estimated value of the stolen items was $165, and Avery allegedly caused approximately $50 in damage to a closet rack inside Taylor’s home.

Theft, Trespassing, Drugs
•Kayla Nicole Walsh, 29, of Milan and Karen Lynn Winberry, 40, of 500 Griggs Chapel Road, Cedar Grove, were both charged with theft under $1,000 and criminal trespassing, and Winberry was also charged with simple possession of marijuana on Oct. 11 near Huntingdon.
According to the report by Deputy Jason Walker, he responded to a theft call at 1813 McCullough Road and found Walsh and Winberry on the property without the property owner’s consent. The two were allegedly taking apart a metal storage shed and loading it onto a trailer. Approximately 4 grams of marijuana were found in Winberry’s possession. The storage shed was valued at $1,000.
