Carroll County had a record breaking year in 2021 as it relates to Local Option Sales Tax collections. More than $8.3 million was collected up 18% from 2020.
In 2017, Carroll County collected $5.5 million.
The results of the historical collection in 2021 is more than $4.15 million goes to our school systems based on a per student basis. Also, $4.15 million goes to our local governments based on where the tax was collected.
There are three key reasons for the sales tax growth.
- • Increased support of Carroll County businesses. This is evidence that shopping in Carroll County has a positive impact.
- • Changes in online sales tax collected does make a difference.
- • Inflation.
Shopping in Carroll County helps our businesses, local governments, and our schools.
The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce is a 501 (c) (6) which means we pay sales taxes on our purchases which supports our local governments and schools.
Bruceton and Carroll County to Receive Community Development Block Grants
Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee and Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe recently approved $28.5 million in Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), which will assist communities with infrastructure improvements, housing rehabilitations and health and safety initiatives.
Sixty-two communities were chosen to receive CDBG funds. The Town of Bruceton and Carroll County were among the communities chosen to receive CDBG funds. Bruceton was chosen to receive $511,750 for sewer system improvements. Carroll County will receive $371,700 for fire protection.
